If you post bail, you will be released from jail and be required to attend all court proceedings. You may be given other restrictions such as not leaving the county or not going near a certain person. If you post your own bail, you will get all your money back at the end of your case, assuming you do everything the court requires. If you use a bail bondsman, you must provide a percentage of the bail, usually 8 to 10% of the total. You will not get that money back. Besides paying the required percentage, you must put up property to secure the bail amount. Usually a lien on a house or a car will provide the required security for the bond.
